Trying Dr. Berg’s Healthy Keto Chili
Lately, I have been wanting to try out the Keto diet to lose some weight and also to reduce inflammation. A few friends told me about Dr. Berg’s Healthy Keto plan, so I decided to check it out and see if it’s doable.
I won’t bore you with the details of why Keto can help you to feel better and lose weight, because I have yet to actually understand it all myself. I decided to jump in with both feet though and start trying to eat this way the best I can.
After perusing through Dr. Berg’s recipes, I found a few that looked good and like they wouldn’t be too overwhelming to make. For me, recipes overwhelm me. Even though a recipe might be super easy to follow, when I see any long list of ingredients and measurement instructions, my brain goes haywire and the fog begins swirling inside my brain. I have no idea why I am like this, and maybe I am not alone in this, but when it comes to cooking and meal planning, I get easily overwhelmed.
Cooking comes naturally to some people. Some people find it relaxing to be in the kitchen preparing food all day long. I find it exhausting and overwhelming.
But I digress.
The whole point of this post was to share with you how I made Dr. Berg’s Ketogenic Chili and how it turned out.
The low-down on this chili recipe is:
- 225 calories per serving
- 16 grams of fat
- 6 grams of net carbs
- 15 grams of protein
Here are the ingredients. At first glance I was a tad overwhelmed, however, I had watched the video first, so when I looked at the list of ingredients, I could actually picture what I had seen in the video, which for some reason helped a lot.
Healthy Keto Chili Ingredients

Here is the video I watched, which you can also find on his chili recipe page.
It turned out to be pretty easy to make. I actually doubled the recipe I wanted to have left-overs. I am so glad I did, because my family really enjoyed it. And I am still eating off it a few days later.
Here is a picture of how my keto chili turned out:
The only thing I would do different next time is either cook off the liquid or use more tomato paste to thicken the liquid up a bit. It tasted really really good, and I would recommend NOT skipping the optional garnishes. They are like icing on a cake!
Would I make this again? Most Definitely!
