The Building of a blogshop: Seeking God’s will for your blog (+Free blog prayer Printable) {Episode 3}

Welcome back to my series The Building of A Blogshop , where I am taking you behind the scenes of the building a blog and printables shop from the ground up.

In today’s episode, I am talking about seeking God’s will for your blog.

I used to write a lot. When I was in my twenties, I wrote an entire novel (that I still haven’t published but plan to), and I never ran out of ideas on what to write about. I remember when email became a really big thing, my friends and I would write long, long emails back and forth to one another. It was so fun.

Some of my best memories in life were when I have been inspired to write. Whether in my diary at a young age or writing stories on my computer. Somehow, over the years, the art of writing and expressing my thoughts became lost, and my desire to write dwindled.

After getting married and having children, life just kind of took over, and with all its hustle bustle, zapped most of my creativity. It seems like the busier life gets, which it seems like it’s always getting busier by the day, creativity and reflection of any kind get pushed to the side.

I know that is not God’s will for our lives. To be so busy that you don’t have any time for reflection, creativity, or expression is not how God designed us to be. Constant busyness is something this world demands of us, but we weren’t designed to live like this.

I am starting this blog and printables shop with the hopes that my passion for writing will be reignited, and that God will bless me with new inspiration and new topics for this blog.

Maybe you have tossed around the idea of starting a blog, and/or an ecommerce store, but thought to yourself, “What if I am just wasting my time? What if I spend all my time and effort into trying to make this thing work, and it just fizzles out and flops? What if no one reads the blog or buys anything from my shop? What if no one cares and I get absolutely no traffic? What if, what if, what if….?

There are so many blogs and shops out there competing for attention. What in the world makes me think that mine is going to make any kind of difference at all?

I get it. All of these thoughts swirl in my head also, however, I believe that we have a weapon at our disposal and before we start anything, any major endeavor, we need to get this tool out and use it. Not only use it, but rely on it for the success of anything we attempt in life.

That weapon is prayer.

Jeremiah 33:3 say “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.”

This is God telling us, “Hey! If you want to know My plans for you, if you want to know My will for your life, if you want to know what is going to work and what is not going to work, ask me!”

These are things we would not know in our own strength.

God cares about us and He cares about everything we put our hand to. He cares about the big things and He cares about the little things. He cares about our needs and He cares about our wants. He even cares about our blog!

That might sound silly to you that God would care about your blog, or your online shop, but think about it, why wouldn’t He?

He created every detail of your life, the big details and the small details, and He is still creating details in your life every day. Even some of the thoughts you have.

If you are thinking about starting a blog or an online shop, go to Him and ask Him if that is something He really wants you to do. Because if it is, and you are actively seeking Him and His will, He will bless it.

James 1:17 says “Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.”

His will for us is always good and perfect, so if we are walking in His Will, our endeavors will be blessed.

The key to a successful anything in life is seeking out the Lord’s heart before hand. And, if after you have sought His will, you still feel that desire to start a blog or an online business, then you know it is a desire He gave you.

Psalm 37:4 says “Delight yourself in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart.”

I used to think that meant if I delight myself in the Lord, He will give me what I want. However, after meditating on it and asking the Lord for clarification, I had an AHA moment.

It means that if I delight myself in the Lord, if I spend time with Him, if I spend time reading His Word, if I seek Him in all I do, and I am in relationship with Him, He will put His desires in my heart, which is His good and perfect will for my life.

And if your blog is something the Lord desires and wills for you to do, He will give you the inspiration to move forward. For me, these moments of inspiration come in spurts. Sometimes unexpected spurts.

For example, the other day I was in the shower, and God gave me a blast of inspiration for a blog post. It felt almost urgent. I was scared I was going to forget, so as soon as I got out of the shower, still wrapped in a towel, I ran down to my computer and started drafting the post. Now, that kind of inspiration is obvious to me it is from the Lord!

It’s not always so obvious or urgent, sometimes it feels like a gentle nudge, but you’ll know when God is pressing something upon you, it’s a distinct experience.

For this blog, I pray that I will always seek His will first, and that the desires of His heart pour upon the posts and pages of both the blog and the printables shop.

If you would like to pray for your blog, here is a free printable blog prayer PDF you can click on and save to your computer or print out so you’ll always be reminded to seek Him first in this endeavor and any endeavor you embark upon.

Matthew 6:33 says “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Good luck to you and God bless!
